Babu Beken - Heather H. Howard

Sinopsis:

Softcover, 412 halaman, Hikmah Novel/Mizan

Jadi walaupun fiksi, detil-detil pekerjaan Corki bukan sekadar imajinasi penulis.

Saya cukup menikmati ceritanya dan lumayan membuka mata melihat bagaimana kerja dibalik layar untuk mengakomodasi para selebriti.

Unbreakable Bond (Jamie Bond #1) by Gemma Halliday

Blurb:

Jamie Bond is a former cover model who switches gears to take over the family business: The Bond Agency, a high-powered P.I. firm located in Los Angeles that specializes in domestic espionage - catching cheating husbands.

Her current client: Mrs. Veronica Waterston, the young, distraught wife of superior court judge, Thomas Waterston, known for his tough sentencing, right-wing leanings, and his fondness for blondes with double D's. Easy target.

But Jamie's simple case takes an unexpected turn for the worse when the not-so-good judge winds up on the ten o'clock news with a bullet through his head. It's clear that someone has set Jamie up, and suddenly she's on the run, under fire, and in serious jeopardy of losing it all. With a hot A.D.A. on her trail, a killer on the loose, and her life on the line, Jamie must prove once and for all that nobody messes with a Bond.

This was my introduction to the world of digital book and English language book. I remember how i was amazed with the story and loving it. The Cozy-sleuth genre also something new for me because back then adult novel in my country swamped by waves of chicklit.

Anyway, back to the review:
I love Jamie personality, her attitude is somewhat between laid back and determine, not a Mary Sue or damsel in distress heroine. She lowkey kick ass lol.
I also love her 'partner'/cameraman (it's quite a long time ago, i forget his name haha) and the subtle feeling between them (well more on him).
As for the case, i don't remember much. I more focus on the story as whole, her life, her job and her interaction.
The writing is also enjoyable.

This book pretty much set my expectation higher on the next digital books i would read. That's how naive i was 😂😂

P.S: I got this ebook free on online retailer, but now it's no longer free.

Review:

What i like about this book: Many part of the stories makes me giggle (not mention in such unexpected way which is good). The storytelling is good too.

Lucy has potential to be more likeable. At this point, i already like her, that is except her continuously 'can't say no' to ANYONE. Especially to her nasty ex-boss. I kind of wish in the end, she's gonna kicking his ass with her new confidence or whatever, but unfortunately it doesn't happen. She still a pushover.
Yeah, i don't like that part, i also don't really care for the mystery

P.S: I got this ebook free on online retailer, but is seems it's no longer free (now at 99c.)
